Today I am taking a close look at the Shark IONFlex 2X Cordless vacuum cleanerOpens in a new tab. (link to Amazon).

This is one of the higher-end cordless vacuums that Shark offers and it is one of the crown jewels in their cordless range actually.

If you want to know if this is the vacuum that is going to keep your house clean from top to bottom, keep on reading!

Set-Up And Battery Run Time

One of the things that I have always liked about Shark was how easy it is to assemble its products. I have tested a few different Shark vacuums over the years and they have all been easy to set up and from my research, this one is no different.

What really caught my eye with the Shark IONFlex 2X though is the fact that Shark gives you two rechargeable batteries with it. The battery life gives you about 30 minutes of clean time (depending on the mode you are using) and the idea is that you can charge one while using the other.

Flex-It Baby!

As it has flex in the name, you know that there is some kind of feature that allows this to flex. At first glance, it may look like any other cordless stick vacuum, but the Shark IONFlex 2X is kind of like a Transformer.

By that, I do not mean it turns into a giant truck, but the “stick” can actually flex which allows you to reach higher spots, vacuum at more awkward angles, and get into tight spots.

It is a fantastic feature and one that people really rave about.

Being able to flex it like this makes vacuuming much more comfortable and also it makes it so you can fold the stick so that it takes up far less room when it is stored away.

Shark’s Duo Clean Technology

Shark love to tell you about their Duo Clean Technology and I can see why. Their DuoClean cordless technology is when they use two brushes. One is a strong bristle brush that gets in nice and deep and will work wonders on the thickest carpet.

The other is a soft brush roll which will pull in any debris that it comes across. These work together very well and from what I have seen no other vacuum manufacturer offers a setup like this.

Ultra-Light With Three Cleaning Modes

One of the coolest things about the Shark IONFlex 2X is that it gives you three different ways to clean.

The powerful motor allows it to clean any surface that is in your home. It allows you to select what kind of “power” you need.

This is great as we all know different messes may need a little extra power. Just know that if you use the MAX mode, the battery will only last for around 10 minutes. I would advise that you play around with the different power settings and find what one works best for your home.

Upright Mode: Upright mode is what you would call the standard vacuuming mode of the Shark IONFlex 2X. Thanks to the lightweight and cordless design, you will notice that you can glide over any surface in your home. I would bet that many people will leave the vacuum in this mode and be happy with it.

Reach Mode: All homes have things like sofas and tables in them and vacuuming around them can be brutal. That is where reach mode comes in. Thanks to that flex technology we talked about earlier, reach mode lets you change the angle of the vacuum. You can get right under the sofa, table or whatever and make sure anywhere the kids can hide their mess is cleaned!

Above Floor Cleaning Mode: You can actually take the hose off this and use the Shark IONFlex 2X as a hand vac. It is very easy to do and this way you can clean the beds, chairs and even get up high to take down that spider web hotel which has been in the corner of the living room for the last month.

Comes With Great Accessories

While the three different cleaning modes make cleaning the whole home very easy, what is really neat about the different configurations is that as well as the main head, you get some pretty nifty tools to use.

The crevice tool is great for getting into those tight spots.

The dusting brush allows you to take care of more delicate things. The wide upholstery tool is fantastic and one that gets a lot of praise as it makes keeping the sofas and beds clean very easy. It even comes with an anti-allergen brush which is ideal if you have pets that like to shed pet hair all over the house.

Getting Rid Of The Mess Is Easy

In my research, I found that the Shark IONFlex 2X has a pretty sophisticated filtration system that is designed to keep as many of those nasty allergens in as possible. This means that you will not be sneezing like crazy as you vacuum.

These filters can be removed and cleaned which is a nice touch. I do feel that at this price they could have used a HEPA filter, but to be fair the filters they have used I have not read any complaints about.

As well as a good filtration system, Shark has made it nice and easy for you to empty the dust canister. Once it is full it is as simple as taking the dust cup over to the garbage and letting it all fall out. Shark makes it so that you never have to actually touch any of the mess that you have vacuumed up which is great.

Final Thoughts On The Shark IONFlex 2X

If you want as close to what a Dyson offers, but with a far lower price tag, you need to take a closer look at the Shark IONFlex 2XOpens in a new tab. (link to Amazon).

In my research, I noticed very few people who had any kind of major issues with this vacuum.

It is certainly one of the higher-end vacuums that Shark produces and it is one that really does allow you to clean your home from the bottom all the way to the top thanks to the different cleaning modes, the awesome accessories and of course Shark’s Flex Technology.
